I have to admit that the Wikis for community and city info was really cool. I think the Library could use it for posting events and keeping track of upcoming events city wide. I think it would be a good resource for patrons as far as maybe locations, dates, addresses, and phone numbers of city or state programs.
Wikis, so I don't know what I think about them. I can see where it could be fun to track a certain subject or participate in a thought. I think it could be helpful to patrons if our catalouge was connected to reviews on books or dvd's. I also think it would be helpful to have a wiki for instructional puposes, but then you would'nt really know if they were accurate. I don't really think I would trust the info.

Web 2.0

I love the idea of a School Library Commons for students of every age. What a great opportunity for all students to learn about their school Library and the Public Library. The library is a vital roll in learning and research for all students, whether in school or not, and Web 2.0 is a great tool for this. I like the whole idea of how much information is available at any time. The interaction of people to people is a great comfort if you need answers quickly, but this in no way takes the value out of web 2.0.

I can see how someone could get completely lost for hours on Technotori. I put in the search word gardening and found myself looking under the tag words ( like plants, flowers, etc.) I understand the use of tags and how they make it easier to find more information. Just about any word you wanted to search would lead you in a bunch of different directions.

Well I 'm not to sure of this Rollyo thing. I can see it on my blog, but I'm not sure how the whole thing works. I copy and pasted it but I had difficulty with the instructions on how to get the urls to show up. This was probably the most tricky thingy to do. On to the next.

http://www.librarything.com/widget I think this is a cool resource. I had trouble trying to remember some of my favorite books. I can see how this would be valuable to patron too.Having the ability to store what you want to read and then updating it periodically would be handy. Good Stuff!!!!

Bloglines

Learning how to do RSS feeds? Well anyway, I think I got it. I went to Bloglines and made a feed list, but I wasn't sure how to get that list to my blog, or if it works that way? I think this would be great at home to have a list pretaining to weather and gardening since I like to keep my finger on both.
I think there's probably a lot of people in the library that already use this for researching questions from patrons. I would think this would save alot of key strokes and time.
I also subscribed to others blogs and thats really cool.

Well, technology for me has changed how I communicate, how I spend free time, how I work.
I can remember when everything was hand written or typed on a typewriter. I worked at a gas station that didn't even have a cash register that was electric.

I appreciate the convenience and speed of contacting friends in Texas or getting a map to a gathering I want to attend. When my mom was sick, I found a lot of information about her illness. I love having a digital camera, snap the picture and no waiting to see the results.

I have to admit that I have become computer dependent for certain things. I think in some ways
that's a good thing and then sometimes I feel totally frustrated with program problems and
fear of virus's. I am looking forward to having my own MP3 player to experiment with.
Like everything that changes it has it's pros and cons. Just my thoughts, Joan

My trading card. I sent this to my documents, under my pictures and uploaded it from there. I'm so proud of myself. Joan

Week 3

Well, I found the instructions for this exercise easy to follow. I did not have a easy time uploading my pictures, because I was'nt paying attention.
I did try the Flickr fun tools, and created my own trading card, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to my blog. I don't know if I'm missing something or not. Joan

Week 1

I watched and I listened (to the video) and I have to say the hardest thing on that list of 71/2 Things is gonna be using technology and the easiest will be excepting responsibility for my own learning.

My Goals:
To have more confidence in finding what I'm looking for on the net.
To be able to download music and photos without fear.
To have fun with this.

Today

I'm really not very good at writing or sharing my thoughts with strangers, so I find this somewhat akward. I do much better sharing one on one. I guess this is a great way for me to grow and experience an unkown. Later
